The Project


The Plan
The Gregory’s already own two forty-foot shipping containers, and they want to transform them to be used as offices and a meeting room for the Gloriavale Leavers’ Support Trust. This is a much-needed space. Up until now the Gregory home and a small portable office have been used – but they’d like something more suitable! Between 20 Nov – 15 Dec 2023, a team from MMM (Mobile Maintenance Ministry) assembled volunteers from across New Zealand to assist with the conversion. How incredible!! Now we are up to the finishing stages – exterior painting, services connections, deck, landscaping etc.

Financing
Graham and Liz Gregory, owners of the containers and the property at Doncaster Street, have undertaken to pay for the project privately, but they have financial constraints. The Gloriavale Leavers’ Support Trust endorses this project and supports the Gregory’s request to seek sponsorship for products, financial support and volunteer tradie hours from friends and supporters.
The Gregory’s have been involved with supporting Gloriavale Leavers for more than 10 years, and their home is known to be a hub where Gloriavale Leavers feel safe. This new space will ensure staff can work onsite with leavers in a comfortable space.

Product Donations & Pledges
Since this building project is being funded primarily through the Gregory’s (and not the GLST), the Gregory’s have started a Give-a-Little page for financial donations. For larger sums, please feel free to discuss these with us. We also have a bank account set up especially to receive the funds: ANZ: 06-0889-0405191-02. (This is not a charitable bank account and so there will be no taxable donation receipt). Please let us know if you donate into the bank account so we can email you our thanks!
Financial donations will firstly be applied to the purchase of required building materials that we can’t secure through sponsorship, and secondarily for the recouping of the costs incurred to get to this stage (planning fees, windows, storage sheds etc).
NB: The Trust may choose to contribute to “fit- out” costs (as would be usual in an office lease situation). If you’d like to donate through the Trust for these items, please discuss your plans with us.

Promotion & Thanks
By way of thanking businesses for their support, during the completion of the project the Gregory’s will seek media coverage, and will ensure all supporting businesses will be listed in a local Canterbury/South Canterbury newspaper. The Gregory’s will also do regular updates on social media accounts and website/blog during the time of the build.
